The Golden State Warriors’ 2023–24 NBA campaign was abruptly ended on Tuesday night after they lost to the Sacramento Kings. In the NBA Play-In Tournament’s Western Conference 9 vs. 10 match, Golden State’s chances of winning were not favorable.
They were destroyed, falling short 118–94. There has been much discussion about what may happen in the future because many people think that Tuesday night marked the end of a dynasty. Over the past ten years, Golden State has been among the NBA’s most dominant teams, but all good things come to an end.
That might mark the beginning of the Warriors’ Big 3 era, which includes Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Stephen Curry. Although Green and Curry just agreed to sign new contracts, Thompson is scheduled to become a free agent this summer.
Concerning his future in the franchise, rumors have been circulating. Important Warriors players, including head coach Steve Kerr and teammates, have made it known that they want Thompson back on the team. However, there’s a good probability he’ll leave.
Although it’s a hot topic, Thompson isn’t quite ready to discuss it just yet. When a reporter questioned Thompson about his future in Golden State, he became agitated and did not give a positive response.
“We don’t want to discuss the season beforehand? Do you want to discuss the future? Bro, what’s the deal with you guys not wanting to live in the now? It’s absurd,” Thompson remarked, according to 95.7 The X-Game.
When a season ends, feelings are usually high, especially with the Warriors’ current situation. It’s definitely not how they wanted to end things if that was their last Big 3 game.
Thompson went 0-for-10 against the Kings in what was maybe the worst game of his career, setting a record for the Warriors team. Although this isn’t the happily ever after that many had hoped for, Thompson has left an equally outstanding legacy with Golden State.
