Will Hardy, the coach of the Utah Jazz, was recently asked what it would be like to share a building with an NHL team in the hypothetical future. He didn’t go into too much detail.
He chuckled and said, “Hypothetically, I assume we won’t play on the same nights.” “Well, that sounds enjoyable.”
However, Lauri Markkanen, the standout player for Hardy and a native of Finland, is thrilled to be welcoming a club to Utah. Growing up, he spent a lot of time playing hockey outside with his friends and siblings.
“Thrilled,” Markkanen murmured. “I have been a longtime fan and I love to travel to the games whenever I can… Thus, that would be fantastic.
When Markkanen was in elementary school, he attempted playing hockey on a team but told his mother he would much rather be outside because it took too long to put on the equipment. Being seven feet tall also encouraged Markkanen to pursue basketball instead of organized hockey, so he didn’t grow up playing the sport, but in Finland, it was impossible to be a hockey fan without growing up there.
