The Houston Rockets, who obtained draft cash with the trade of James Harden some years ago, will once more select in the top-10 in a few months.
There will undoubtedly be win-now players that the Rockets can select in the top rounds of the 2024 NBA Draft, even though it hasn’t yet been hailed as one of the greatest.
Few had a greater pure influence at the collegiate level than Clingan, who used his stingy rim-protection and somewhat mobile center skill set to lead the Huskies to back-to-back titles.
Even with his recent rise to prominence, Alperen Sengun is still viewed negatively in many defensive scenarios. Clingan would provide a dimension to the team that is now lacking with his 4.4 blocks per 40. Better yet, Clingan would be a terrific lob threat to complement Sengun, Amen Thompson, Fred VanVleet, and other players’ passing prowess.
There would probably be more offensive woes to work out between Sengun and Clingan — who to this point are underwhelming and non-shooters, respectively — but in the least grabbing a surefire bet at center couldn’t hurt Houston’s chances.
