Alan Cross, the club physiotherapist for the Cables, will officially retire at the conclusion of the 2023–2024 season.
Cross started working for the team in 1994 and has since provided care for hundreds of athletes.Last Saturday, during the club’s final home game of the regular season, he was joined on the field by his family as they defeated Stalybridge Celtic 2-0 to increase their chances of making the playoffs.
The Cables need just one point from their road encounter at Trafford to guarantee a top-five status, barring a significant goal swing on the last weekend.
A well-respected figure at the Joseph Russell Stadium, Cables captain Liam Hollett and manager Steven Daley were quick to pay tribute to Cross and his impact within the local footballing community as he prepares to step away from the club at the end of the season.
