When Dermot Desmond entered the bar he was working behind during Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final in Italy and asked to be served a drink, the Celtic supporter had to rub his eyes in shock.

A fan, working as a pourer at Finnegan’s Pub in Rome, witnessed the entire event from a distance via television as tensions were running high.
Numerous Celtic supporters were present at this well-liked Irish hangout. However, punter Michael didn’t anticipate chairman Desmond to join the company. That’s what he learned when he told his story on A Celtic World Podcast, along with a video of the Parkhead virtuoso. The sceptical admirer remarked, “It was a really enjoyable experience! About twenty minutes before kickoff, I was working behind the bar when I looked over and thought I saw a ghost approaching the bar.
“I looked at this guy and thought, ‘that’s Dermot Desmond!’ I stared at him and he stared back at me. I stared at him again, as if to say ‘you look like Dermot Desmond’.
“Some people got photographs with him before the match and at half-time. He was sitting up by the bar drinking alcohol-free beer. He was with a lady and some younger guy. I couldn’t believe he turned up.”
