How can supporters of the Washington Commanders be thrilled about Jayden Daniels joining their team? As the franchise’s face, how are the Commanders expected to get excited about him?

What in the world are they supposed to do when the guy doesn’t want to be there?

The following article from The Athletic’s NFL insider Dianna Russini presents a very dire picture for the Commanders:

You want a player you’re considering investing your second-round selection in, not just someone who will be “cool” playing for your club. A guy who will be totally committed to serving as your franchise’s face is what you desire. This might potentially change the course of the franchise; it’s not just another late-first-round ploy by the Commanders.

Commanders general manager Adam Pierce and head coach Dan Quinn are in a peculiar situation as a result. Will this turn out to be another Eli Manning story, where the team finally gives in and allows the player to be traded to the team of his choice? Will Daniels be taken nonetheless by the Commanders, with the understanding that he will eventually get past these emotions? Would they let the Patriots handle the problem and pass on him in favor of Drake Maye?

This is really starting to get interesting because, on draft night, everyone will know that Daniels is feeling something like this if he puts up a Commanders jersey:
