On Saturday, more than two dozen fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft flew over Kentucky during the 35th edition of Thunder Over Louisville.

The Kentucky Derby Festival began with a one-day air show that brought hundreds of thousands of people to the Ohio River’s banks. It included appearances by:

The 123rd Special Tactics Squadron of the Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Airlift Wing also performed a four-ship C-130J Super Hercules exercise, during which airmen dove into the Ohio River. A helocast into the Ohio River was also carried out by the Air Guard’s special operators from a Kentucky Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk that was part of the 63rd Theater Aviation Brigade. The exhibition was supported by the Kentucky Air National Guard, which also functioned as the participating military aircraft’s main base of operations. Throughout the day, the Guard supported the aircraft with maintenance and logistics.
