Sadly for Jordan McLean, it always seems to be pouring rain. The nearly 31-year-old Cowboys prop was getting ready to finally play for the Blues in Origin only a few days ago. McClean will now have to hurry to play a few games in order to qualify for the finals.
Earlier this week, during a New South Wales training session, McLean injured his hamstring, resulting in Jacob Saifiti receiving his first sky blue jersey.
Although McLean will remain the sole candidate without a jersey, he followed in the footsteps of former hopefuls Reagan Campbell-Gillard and Dave Klemmer by making his international debut prior to Origin. McLean was originally selected to replace the injured Payne Haas.
McLean has played in 168 NRL games, but his scan results have shown worse hamstring strains than initially believed. The North Queensland enforcer will miss at least three to four weeks due to a Grade 2 injury, according to the results. He will not make his debut on Wednesday night with teammates Cowboys Tom Dearden and Tom Gilbert.
