We reported from Turkey two days ago that the striker told manager Abdullah Avcı he wanted to play on and the Saints would have to decide what to do with him.
According to Fanatik, Trabzonspor is now in talks with Southampton to sign the 29-year-old and another player from the Championship team.
In an attempt to bolster their defense, Trabzonspor has set their sights on two Southampton players: Jan Bednarek and Duje Ćaleta-Car, who is presently on loan at Lyon. They had planned to do the latter last summer.
It is clarified that Avcı loves both center backs and that the price of the operation would determine whether or not a deal could be made for one of them. The 27-year-old Croatian international, who has played 25 games for Lyon this year, is under contract at St. Mary’s until 2026.
However, Fanatik believes Russell Martin’s team “may not demand a high fee” to sell Bednarek, who has more than a year left on his deal. It remains to be seen if such is the case.
