“As ardent music enthusiasts and honored community members, it’s unbelievably difficult to share the news that The Zoo will be closing its doors on July 8 after nearly 32 years of live music,” the management stated in a statement.
“Unfortunately, the financial realities of operating music venues in 2024 are extremely harsh. Even though the Zoo’s ticket sales last year were at their greatest point in its 32-year history, rising operating costs and declining profits still had to be addressed.

The venue has been operating at a deficit for more than three years, the statement continued, and sibling venue Stranded will also be permanently closing.
Fans of live music were also urged by management to patronize nearby venues and press the government to stop more venues from closing.
