LOUISVILLE, KY: The men’s basketball team at Louisville has lost one of its main targets in recent years.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowskl, Jayden Quaintance, a five-star talent in the Class of 2024 who became a target for new Cardinals head coach Pat Kelsey after decommitting from Kentucky, is signing with Arizona State.
During the early signing period in November of last year, Word of God Academy, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, signed an initial commitment to play for Kentucky. As John Calipari, the head coach of the Wildcats, left for Arkansas earlier this month, Quaintance requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent.
Louisville jumped right back into the mix after he was freed. Quaintance finally made an official visit to the Cardinals on April 19, one day before the Jordan Classic.
Things began to go Louisville’s way after Quaintance canceled a trip to Arkansas and rescheduled a trip to Memphis. The Cardinals even received two crystal ball projections. However, Arizona State managed to gain attention and eventually managed to get a visit.
It hurts to lose out on the 6-foot-9, 230-pound big guy. All four major recruiting agencies rank him as a five-star prospect, and the 247Sports Composite lists him as the seventh player in the 2024 cycle. Prior to reclassifying, he belonged to the Class of 2025.
