HEARTBREAKING NEWS: HE IS BACK…

“I want to thank President Marcus Thompson and Vice President and Athletics Director Ashley Robinson for giving me this amazing opportunity to serve as the head women’s basketball coach at Jackson State University,” Richards stated. “If you look at the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s landscape for our sport, Jackson State has been the gold standard for the past five years. Being able to help the young ladies in our program and the Jackson State community makes me feel humbled and privileged. I’m eager to go to work and am aware of the requirements.”

With 19 years of experience coaching in college, Richards brings a wealth of accomplishments to Jackson State from her time spent at Mercer and Alabama A&M. She guided Alabama A&M to almost 100 victories and six trips to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament, when the Bulldogs made a memorable run to the 2019–20 tournament semifinals. During the 2021–22 season, under her direction, Alabama A&M won 13 conference games and finished second in the final SWAC regular season rankings.
