Apparently, Brendan Rodgers will have to decide between two players to start on the right wing against Philippe Clement’s Ibrox team on Saturday at Parkhead.
With just two league games remaining, a victory in this derby meeting would give the champions an almost insurmountable six-point lead. Therefore, the Celtic manager knows he MUST get it right from the start.
Will Rodgers choose Nicolas Kuhn, the German winger he paid £3 million to Rapid Vienna in January?
Or will he give the job to the steadfast James Forrest, who has emerged from the shadows in recent weeks and made tremendous contributions?
For your humble scribe, the answer is obvious. In my opinion, there’s only one person who can execute the job right, and that person is the one who has experienced it firsthand and has all 22 medals to prove it.
On this occasion, Forrest should initiate the conversation, and Kuhn may add some further vigor later on.
I believe Yang Hyun-jun of South Korea can be eliminated from the discussion for the time being. In the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden last month, he was essentially invisible for a little over an hour.
After taking over, Forrest gave the holders a 2-1 lead two minutes later with his signature whiplash low drive into Kelle Roos’ left-hand corner.
