In order to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers will be considering the addition of a third star. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has proposed a blockbuster trade in which the Lakers move Paul George to their in-city opponent, the Los Angeles Clippers.
Lakers receive PJ Tucker and George.
Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and a 2024 or 2025 first-round selection are acquired by the Clippers.
This summer, Paul George will need to make some important choices. In his May 9 piece, Swartz suggested blockbuster moves for clubs willing to take a big chance. “While staying home in Los Angeles should be the priority, the Clippers consistently losing Kawhi Leonard in or before the playoffs year after year has to be wearing on him,” Swartz wrote. “Joseph Embiid is also surrounded by injury concerns, but George, 34, can become an unrestricted free agent and sign with a contender like the Philadelphia 76ers.”
George might ask to be traded to the Lakers instead, as he has leverage and can walk out the door with nothing. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Paul George would form one of the best Big Threes in basketball history, enhancing Los Angeles’ outside shooting and all-around defense in the process. James would be more inclined to re-sign with the Lakers. In an effort to bolster the roster surrounding their stars, the Lakers would still be able to select first-round players in 2029 and 2031.
