According to Alan Nixon, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough have “both made their sales pitch” to Luke Ayling in an attempt to sign the departing Leeds United right-back.
The Sun writer revealed on his Patreon page on Sunday, May 12, that Ayling, 32, would choose his summer team this summer because his Leeds contract expires at the end of May.
It has already been revealed that Ayling will be leaving Elland Road this summer after signing a half-season loan with Boro in January.
Luke Ayling to play in the 2024–2025 Championship season against Yorkshire rivals?
Ayling signing with Sheffield United or Middlesbrough won’t come as a surprise.
It means that, following an outstanding loan stint at Boro, he won’t have to move his young family across the nation and can keep playing in the Championship.
Ayling recorded an incredible eight assists in 19 games for the Teesside team, which helped them close out the season strong and capture the eighth spot in the Championship.
