This summer, Brendan Rodgers wants to build on his strength, and he has two primary priorities: adding a new guy in the middle of the defense and adding defensive reinforcements.
David de Gea MAY think about making a surprise summer transfer to Celtic, given the team will play in the Champions League the following year.
According to Andy Walker, a former Parkhead hero, the possibility of joining the Scottish Premiership winners would “turn on” the former Manchester United goalkeeper. After leaving Old Trafford, the Spanish goalkeeper chose not to sign with a club, thus he has been out of action for a year. In order to stay healthy, he has been training with English non-league team Altrincham FC.
Walker believes the 33-year-old would be a great match at Celtic Park, as Brendan Rodgers is searching for a new No. 1 after Joe Hart’s retirement. He stated on the Go Radio Football Show: “The great thing about Celtic right now is that they can offer the Champions League to any player.” He is still without a contract. For many players, that is a turn on.
“I am aware that De Gea has amassed absurdly large wealth over his career, but perhaps everyone will benefit from his being out of contract. I wouldn’t rule out Celtic making a major signing—someone with a name like De Gea, whose name would thrill fans.”
De Gea is not the only goalkeeper connected to Celtic, despite the fact that he might be a dream signing for many gamblers. Peter Vindahl Jensen of Sparta Prague thought he was a prime target.
Football Scotland reports that Celtic and the Czech team are negotiating a transfer for the Danish goalkeeper, who only moved permanently from AZ Alkmaar of the Eredivisie back in March. According to the report,
Vindahl Jensen is under contract in the Czech capital on a multi-year deal and it is claimed Sparta “are reluctant to part company” with the 26-year-old, and will hold “out for a sizeable seven figure fee” for the former Denmark U21 international.
