SO SAD: It’s With Heavy Heart We Announce The Passing Away Of Randy Mazey After Involving…

Three times in 2024, a football icon who also happens to be a former player for one of West Virginia’s fiercest rivals is showing love to an entering freshman class.

Michael Vick, a former quarterback for Virginia Tech who had a contentious but brilliant collegiate and NFL career, tweeted on Wednesday about receiving summer instruction from Zyir Daniel, a rookie defensive lineman at West Virginia University.

Vick used the tweet to hype up Daniel’s collegiate future to his followers and also tagged a number of accounts that cover Big 12 football.

Additionally, Vick tweeted in January to congratulate Daniel on his commitment and once more in April to showcase Daniel as one of his recruiting service’s featured athletes. Rashad “Roc” Carmichael, a fellow Virginia Tech alumnus who played there far more recently than Vick but who bonded with his fellow Hokie during their time together as NFL players for the Philadelphia Eagles, is the link between the two. Carmichael is mentioned by Daniel as a mentor, and the two of them had a mutual relationship with him.

Daniel enrolled in WVU in January after committing as a preferred walk-on and spent the spring session practicing with the Mountaineers.
