SAD NEWS: HE IS GONE…

The NFL, short for National Football League, is a well-known acronym. However, there is a play on words that is occasionally used to describe that NFL abbreviation, and that is “Not For Long.” Regretfully, after entering the league, the majority of players discover this.

It makes no difference if a player was successful early in their NFL career or how good they were in college. It might all end one day and the player, who ought to be at the height of his abilities, is sitting at home, waiting for a call. Furthermore, a lot of people never get the call.

Shaquille Leonard, a former linebacker for the Eagles and Indianapolis Colts, is currently learning about the second meaning in the NFL. Though he isn’t working for an NFL team at the moment, his career isn’t finished. In the hopes of waiting for his next opportunity, Leonard is practicing and getting ready at home.

I’m more interested in taking a backseat and making the body healthy; then, when the time is right, we’ll attempt it. I simply keep working hard and being myself. “If it occurs, it occurs,” Leonard said to the Indianapolis Star’s Kyle Smedley. “It doesn’t mean it doesn’t. Even if I decide to take a break from it, I believe I’ve had a fantastic career. I’m content with my life and am only waiting for the right chance.

Leonard led Indianapolis’ defense and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and the All-Pro team. He turns 29 in July and has been a player in the league for six years. Leonard hasn’t missed a lot of time due to injury, with the exception of the Colts 2022 season, when he missed the majority of it due to season-ending back surgery.

Leonard made a comeback to Indianapolis last season, playing nine games before being cut in the middle of the campaign and joining Philadelphia. Leonard made 12 tackles in five games during his time with the Eagles. As training camps get closer, the former second-round pick becomes a free agent.

They say, “Not for long,” but it never truly registers until it does. It can be hard to accept that a player who has spent the better part of his career at the top of his profession could be cut unexpectedly. With Leonard’s accomplishments, you have to believe that a player of his caliber will have at least one more chance to show that he still has it.
