Emmalyn Brinka, a transfer pitcher, has signed with Utah State softball as a member of the 2025 roster, as revealed by head coach Todd Judge on Friday.
Chandler, Arizona, native Brinka plays her freshman year at New Mexico in 2023 and her sophomore season at Montana in 2024 before joining the Aggies as a junior.
“Emmalyn fits the mold of the type of player we’re trying to recruit, she’s a strong, athletic player,” Judge stated. She was a standout player in high school and has pitched over 150 innings in each of the last two seasons, becoming a mainstay in her team’s bullpens. Brinka led Montana’s pitching staff in his sophomore campaign, with 34 appearances and 20 starts for a total of 117.1 innings pitched. She pitched five or more innings eight times this year, threw fifty or more pitches twenty times, and completed six full games with one shutout. Brinka struck out 52 batters and walked 41, recording a 5.55 ERA.
Brinka started her collegiate career at New Mexico before attending Montana. She appeared in 21 games there in 2022, making nine starts, and threw 47.1 innings overall, including two complete games.
Brinka prepped at Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona, where she was a first team all-region honoree. In four years there, she pitched a total of 308.2 innings in 62 appearances with 287 strikeouts and a 3.13 ERA. Her senior season, she appeared in 24 games with 111.1 innings in the circle and recorded 129 strikeouts with just 31 walks and a 2.58 ERA. At the plate, she had a .348 career batting average with 31 hits, 24 RBIs, 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs.
