SO SAD: It Is With Heavy Heart ISMA Announce The Passing Away Of ‘Mike Ordway Jr’ Who Was Involved In…

Windham, Maine — In addition to discussing the new car his Clyde Booth Racing team is developing in North Carolina and his two-win season with ISMA/MSS in 2023 that saw him finish second in points, Mike Ordway Jr. also looks ahead to potential new dates on the series schedule for 2024.

New York City’s Buffalo Trent Stephens got the early lead, lost it, and then gained it again on lap 38 when Otto Sitterly’s No. 7 caught fire because of a blown engine. The driver from Salisbury, North Carolina, went on to win the ISMA / MSS / Novelis Oswego Winged Super Challenge 50 on Friday, July 19, at Oswego Speedway. This was his second victory at Oswego this year and his second win of the 2024 ISMA / MSS Supermodified Series. On June 2, Stephens triumphed in the first game of the series at The Steel Palace.

In his Nicotra Racing Bodnar chassis, Sitterly would start from the pole, followed by Stephens in his ACME Racing No. 19. A strong front four starting positions included Mike Ordway Jr.’s Booth Racing No. 61 and Dave Shullick Jr.’s Osetek Racing No. 95, which were positioned in row two.

Sitterly would lose ground to Stephens early on, giving the nine-time Oswego Speedway supermodified champion the upper hand. Sitterly had his hands full in the opening laps with Berlin winner Ordway, who would put early pressure on the 7. Up until the caution that was issued on lap three due to a slowing Johnny Benson Jr. at Turn 2, Shullick finished fourth and Moe Lilje completed the top five positions.

Stephens chose the outside for the double-file restart with Sitterly lining up inside. Stephens once again moved into the lead with Sitterly P2, Shullick P3, Ordway P4 and Tyler Thompson moving into P5. The driver on the move was Canadian Mike Lichty, who passed Thompson on lap 5 to take over fifth from his P10 starting position.

A second yellow flag would wave on lap 22 for an incident involving Lilje and Michael Muldoon in Turn 2. Meanwhile, Lichty pulled his No. 84 pitside and retired from the race.

A second double-file restart again saw Stephens line up on the outside with Sitterly on the inside. This time Sitterly would run even with Stephens into Turn 1 and overtake the race-long leader on the exit of 2. With Sitterly out front, Stephens had to settle into second while Ordway continued to work on Shullick for P3. Oswego regular Dan Connors Jr. moved past Thompson for P5 as the race hit the halfway point.
