The phrase “To All Who Believed in the Magic — We’re Sorry” was recently used by the creators of Disney Lorcana to address a significant issue within the trading card game community. Ravensburger, the publisher of Disney Lorcana, issued this apology following a decision to ban two cards—*Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker* and *Fortisphere*—from competitive play in the Core Constructed format. This move was made to maintain the game’s balance and ensure diverse and engaging strategies in competitive settings.
The ban, effective from April 8, 2025, was explained by Elaine Chase, Chief Marketing Officer for TCGs at Ravensburger, who stated that while no card is designed with the intention of being excluded from competition, the decision was necessary to prevent repetitive strategies and to keep the competitive environment fresh and exciting. Players are still encouraged to use these cards in casual play and friendly matches.
Additionally, Ravensburger has faced challenges in the past, including a significant DDoS attack during the launch of *Rise of the Floodborn* in November 2023, which disrupted online sales and led to an apology from the company. They have since committed to improving the experience for future product launches.
For those interested in discussing these developments or seeking more information, the official Disney Lorcana Discord server is an active platform where the community and developers engage in conversations about the game.
