Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was an indispensable possession for any young person growing up around the year 2000.
Arriving precisely when it was needed to leverage the resurgence of skateboarding and related subcultures, the battered series provided a summary of the major themes of the period.
It had a punk and nu-metal soundtrack, skater Bam Margera as a cast member, and a similar carefree vibe to the Jackass TV series. The skaters wore loose pants. It makes sense why disobedient kids and teenagers enjoyed it so much.
