Moving forward In the NBA Rookie of the Year Award voting, Brandon Miller came in third place and was selected to the NBA All-Rookie team for the 2023–2024 campaign. The Charlotte Hornets, however, are sending the former All-American from Alabama to the NBA 2K25 Summer League despite this.
The Hornets announced their player pool on Tuesday. The players will compete in the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas from July 12–22 and the California Classic Summer League in Sacramento and San Francisco from July 6–10.
Miller would only be available for the games in Las Vegas, according to Charlotte. In order to be ready for the Paris Olympics, Miller will be working with the USA Basketball Men’s Select Team in Las Vegas from July 6–8 in opposition to the USA Basketball Men’s National Team.
Miller was selected by the Hornets with the second overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
After selecting the former Auburn standout with the third choice in the 2022 draft, the Houston Rockets sent forward Jabari Smith Jr. to play in the summer league in Las Vegas last year. Smith, who was taken off the court by the Rockets last year after scoring 71 points in two summer league games, was selected as a second-team pick for the NBA All-Rookie team in 2022–2023 season.
Last summer, Miller performed in Las Vegas as well. Before Charlotte had had enough of its highly-regarded rookie, he averaged 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks in 24.1 minutes over three games.
Miller had a rookie average of 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 74 games during the 2023–24 regular season. In NBA history, his 184 3-pointers are the fourth-most by a rookie player.
In addition to the Hornets, the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Chinese national team will play in the California Classic Summer League.
