SO SAD: My Talent Is Better Than UCF Knights Am Leaving For Good ‘GUS MALZAHN’ Insist On…

For the greatest college football ever, are you ready? There will be eight more postseason games this year with twelve teams in the playoffs. There are now eleven instead of three to determine who is the greatest.

It’s possible that the favorites will win the first two rounds. Or the bottom seeds will be matched up in the semifinals. All we can do is hope.Take a seat, unwind, and savor every second of it. I’ll be using this space over the next month and a half to compile my preseason Top 50 as a primer. I’m open to criticism and divergent opinions; in fact, I may use them in further articles.

Gus Malzahn is starting his second season in the Big 12 and his fourth year overall at the Orlando institution. It’s now the Bigger 12, with Colorado back and Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah added. Although some predicted the Knights would be destroyed in the Power 4, they managed to hold their own. With tailback RJ Harvey back, the UCF offense—which rushed for 1.416 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2023—could be a headache for opposition defenses. … Through the transfer portal, Malzahn added former Arkansas starting quarterback KJ Jefferson, a possible one-year wonder. … The team’s top returning receiver, Kobe Hudson, has an excellent sense of where the end zone is. Ted Roof was brought in by Malzahn to oversee the defense

The Big 12’s potent offense hammered the defense in its debut season. It was particularly poor against the run, which is unfortunate in a league with lots of excellent running backs. Ollie Gordon, a star player for Oklahoma State, fortunately, is not scheduled. The Knights are playing at Florida for an unknown cause. It’s a challenging schedule enough without adding a game in Gainesville. Jefferson must maintain his health. Presumably, a freshman will serve as the backup. The Knights visit West Virginia and Iowa State but do not face Kansas or Kansas State. Against Utah, the league favorite, they close. Beating the Utes is never simple, whether at home or away. But Orlando’s going to be sunny for this one.
