When DeMar DeRozan recently joined Kendrick Lamar on stage and in his “Not Like Us” music video, which was released last week, it seemed as though he was supporting the rapper in their intense rivalry with Drake.
When DeRozan played for Drake’s beloved Toronto Raptors, the Canadian musician and DeRozan became friends. However, he and Lamar both have Compton roots.
This week, after being facetiously asked if his participation in the “Not Like Us” music video meant that Drake’s songs shouldn’t be played at his new Sacramento home arena, DeRozan addressed the issue.
DeRozan declared, “I love Drake, I love Drake, I can play him forever,” during an interview with FOX40 News. Kendrick has long been a close friend and family member of mine. We were raised in the same neighborhood and are from the same city. It has existed forever. Although it hasn’t always been made public, that is essentially family.
While DeRozan says he’s still a fan of Drake, his appearance in the “Not Like Us” music video attracted a lot of attention considering the track features Lamar doubling down on allegations against Drake of pedophilia and sexual misconduct.
