Callum McGregor has been given an explanation by Brendan Rodgers for his decision to not start for Celtic this afternoon.
After missing many weeks due to injury, the Hoops captain made a speedy recovery and returned to duty last weekend at Ibrox against Rangers. The manager showered his captain with praise for his quick recovery. Despite just having a few days of training under his belt, the Northern Irishman made it clear in his pre-match press conference earlier this week that he would not play McGregor if he felt he wasn’t ready.
McGregor, indeed, was not picked to start vs St Mirren today and instead sits on the bench. And Rodgers clarified his position.
