SAD NEWS: HE IS GONE…

Certain people were taken aback when BYU transfer Aly Khalifa revealed he was moving to Louisville, but it wasn’t simply his choice in the end.

No, more was present.

Along with the announcement that Khalifa was going to Louisville, it was also announced that he will be playing as a redshirt this season in order to recover from a knee injury. Despite having a damaged knee, the 6-foot-11, 270-pound Khalifa participated in this past season at BYU.

When Khalifa gets to Louisville later this spring, he will have surgery after having his knee scoped three weeks ago, he confirmed to Cardinal Authority.

“I just had a scope to see what is going on in my knee,” Khalifa told reporters. “All I have to do is wait to arrive. After showing the physicians all the pictures, they advised me to have the operation, but I won’t be able to play until the following season because of the lengthy recuperation period.

“Hopefully, I’ll be prepared to go as soon as I return. However, the procedure will require a little longer recuperation period.”

Khalifa said he was upfront and schools knew he was injured when he reached out to them. He said he spoke at length with U of L coach Pat Kelsey about the situation and said he “can’t wait to get on the floor” the following season for the Cardinals.
