Marvin Harrison Jr., a receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes, stated on Thursday that he “just be happy that I’m getting drafted” and does not give much thought to where he might end up.
Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. of the Ohio State Buckeyes is as relaxed as he can be ahead of Thursday’s 2024 NFL Draft.
Although the Buckeyes pass-catcher is expected to be selected in the top five overall, he claims it is not his main priority. Harrison stated to the media on Wednesday that he is not just interested in being the first player or receiver off the board, but also in finding the ideal landing location.
Harrison remarked, “I mean, it would be nice to be the first pick.” To be honest, I don’t give a damn about it. Basically, I’m simply more concerned with finding the ideal position for me since it would enable me to play to the best of my abilities during my first four years in the NFL.”
As Harrison noted, winning first place overall is not always a guarantee of success.
Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud was selected with the second overall pick (behind Alabama’s Bryce Young) in the 2023 NFL Draft, almost exactly one year ago. After an outstanding rookie season with the Houston Texans, Stroud went on to earn the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award, while Young and the Carolina Panthers only managed two victories.
Forget being first overall, Harrison said he doesn’t even mind not being the first at his position to be chosen. Harrison said he is truly just grateful for the opportunity to show the NFL of what all he is capable.”
“Whether that’s first receiver off the board, third, fifth, whatever that may be, I’ll just be happy that I’m getting drafted,” Harrison said. “And then like I said, just to do my best.”
