On Saturday, April 27, the NFL draft came to a finish. The Baltimore Ravens selected nine players to help assemble their roster for the summer. Washington’s Roger Rosengarten, an offensive tackle selected in the second round, is especially excited to be joining the Ravens and getting the opportunity to block quarterback Lamar Jackson.
On Friday, April 26, the Ravens released a video in which their newest rookie talks about being selected by the team and describes blocking for Jackson as “a dream come true.”
“You know what came to mind the moment I heard Baltimore was blocking for Lamar,” he said at the outset.
After reading the nice remarks, the rookie’s new quarterback responded on X by posting a picture of himself with tears in his eyes. Rosengarten will be entering a diminished group and will have the opportunity to realize his dream right now.
Jackson was described by Rosengarten as “an MVP caliber quarterback, an elite level quarterback.”
One Possible Day 1 Starter Is Roger Rosengarten
One of the major gaps the Ravens had going into the draft was offensive line help. It was widely believed that after selecting CB Nate Wiggins in the first round, they would start to address the issue with their second-round selection.
In the second round, the Ravens selected Rosengarten at No. 62, starting the process of rebuilding at the position. Mel Kiper of ESPN ranked the Washington product as the eighth-best offensive tackler and the 51st best prospect overall.
