On Tuesday, Virginia Tech Hokies added their first spring transfer when quarterback Collin Schlee of UCLA declared his intention to complete his undergraduate career in Blacksburg.

Born and raised in Ijamsville, Maryland, Schlee spent his first four seasons as a student at Kent State. He started as the starting quarterback in 2022 and completed 2,109 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions on 59% of his passes.

Prior to the previous season, the 225-pound, 6-foot-3 Schlee transferred to UCLA. Schlee completed 25 of 47 passing attempts for 217 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions during his one season with the Bruins. With 1,126 running yards (6.5 YPC) and 11 touchdowns in 31 games, Schlee is another potent runner.

After the season, Chip Kelly, the head coach of UCLA, left to become the offensive coordinator at Ohio State, and Schlee made the decision to go back home.
