Accidents happen. You can choose to move on and learn from the experience, or you can choose to blame others or yourself when anything goes wrong.
Accidents can also be a chance to stop, think, and simply be. Frequently, they are indications from above that something is out of alignment.
Blessings Undercover
Three years ago, I was in a really nasty and terrifying skating accident. I had whiplash and a concussion in the end. But I knew it was a signal for me to take action at last.
As a friend of mine refers to them, Blessons (Blessing in the Lessons), my injury served as a wake-up call and a Blessing in disguise.
Allow me to tell you about my skate accident, what I learned from it, and how it helped me discover my mission.
Taking a Skate
I always enjoyed going on enjoyable trips with my kids over the extended winter vacation. I went skating with my younger two, Catherine and Horatio, on Friday, January 3, 2013. Getting some fresh air and having a great time were the goals. Mathew, my eldest, decided to remain at home.
I love to skate a lot. I have always loved skating, having taken up the sport when I was very small. From a young age, I also went skating with my children, and we always had a great time. This time, we decided to visit a brand-new ice rink in Zurich that is just adjacent to a lake.
That day I was a little worn out. The youngsters required some convincing to get into the car for the lengthy drive. There was a big line, and I almost turned around. Unfortunately, I decided that we could all use a little fresh air, so I persisted.
