HEARTBREAKING NEWS FOR HOKIES: He Is Back…

The Virginia Tech football team lost its nonconference match at Rutgers University the previous season. The fact that it was Kyron Drones’ first start at quarterback for the Hokies and the defense’s inability to stop Rutgers’ running game were two of the many factors contributing to the defeat.

Virginia Tech’s record slipped to 1-2 after their 35-16 loss in Week 3. This season, the two teams will rematch in Blacksburg in Week 4, which will be the Hokies’ final non-conference game before ACC action starts at Miami. One quarterback will be missing for Rutgers when the two teams meet on September 21.

Gavin Wimsatt, a quarterback for Rutgers, made an unexpected move by logging onto the spring transfer portal just before it closed. This was after coach Greg Schiano had appointed Minnesota transfer Athan Kalialmanis the starting quarterback.
