BBC NEWS: Il est de retour pour…

Serie A side Atalanta have now etched new history, as they comfortably managed to go past Marseille in the semi-final of the Europa League.

La Dea, headed by Gian Piero Gasperini, defeated Marseille 3-0 in a convincing victory that put them in the Europa League final. Marseille was defeated unexpectedly easy. El Bilal Toure, Ademola Lookman, and Matteo Ruggeri all scored goals to secure Atalanta’s place in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Nevertheless, Atalanta made history because this will be their first-ever European final and they had never participated in a European semifinal before, demonstrating the extent to which Gasperini has advanced the team in the contemporary period.

More than that, La Dea are still very much in with a chance to win a double. They are in the Coppa Italia final, where they take on Juventus and they also have every chance of finishing inside the top five in the Serie A.
