Huybrechts was attending the cup final between Union St Gilloise and Royal Antwerp FC in Brussels, Belgium, on Thursday. On the way to the supporters’ bus, Huybrechts and a friend were beaten up by Union supporters. Huybrechts was diagnosed with a broken collarbone after being taken to the hospital following the altercation.
Het Laatste Nieuws, a Belgian newspaper, paid ‘The Hurricane’ a visit in the hospital and inquired about the incident’s circumstances. “Around thirty Moroccan youths began yelling that Union had won, among other things. A few supporters of Antwerp shouted back. Huybrechts started his anecdote with, “You know how that goes.” Then, without warning, he came under attack. “A motorbike helmet struck me on the right. After that, they tackled me to the ground and began stamping on my clavicle, jaw, and skull.”
