This summer, Paul Warne, the manager of Derby County, might have to let go of one of his best players harshly.
This summer, Derby County will have 12 players without contracts, including several key members of the first team.
Darren Robinson’s contract with the Rams is now being worked out, and Warne probably has other players he wants to hold onto for the 2024–2025 campaign.
But moving on to the Championship, Derby County will have to make some serious summertime additions if they hope to avoid the drop the following season.
This season, Birmingham City was demoted with an astounding 50 points, demonstrating the rising caliber of skill in the Championship.
So to ensure he has enough quality at his disposal, Warne may need to clear some room in the wage bill, which could mean making some difficult decisions regarding certain players; perhaps none more so than Conor Hourihane.
