Craig Bellamy has pledged to stay with Melbourne for a minimum of one more season. The Melbourne coach made the announcement on Friday, one day before the Storm’s matchup with Cronulla at AAMI Park, that he will lead the team for a 23rd NRL season in 2025.
In 2022, Bellamy inked a special five-year deal with the Storm that gives him annual discretion on whether to stay as head coach or move into a coaching director capacity. And Bellamy declared he will stay in charge in 2025 ahead of the team’s last practise before their round ten match against the Sharks.
“I am staying at the club primarily because of the current group of people here, including the coaching staff, players, and everyone at the top,” Bellamy stated on Friday. “I’m glad to be back and am having a great time… Working with the players is enjoyable, and this year’s bunch is pretty excellent, in my opinion.”
Bellamy reported that senior players, including Cameron Munster, had visited him to express their wish for him to continue as coach. The Melbourne five-eighth revealed a year ago that he would have departed for the Dolphins if Bellamy hadn’t talked the coach into staying. The Storm star was famous for doing just that last year. And it was the same this year.
