Birmingham’s season to forget
The Blues were relegated from the Championship to League One after spending 13 years in the English football second division, making this a dismal season at St Andrews.
With John Eustace in charge early in the season, things seemed to be going well. However, in October, he was mysteriously fired as manager, even though Birmingham was sitting sixth in the table and in the playoff spots.
Wayne Rooney replaced him, but the legendary player from England had a terrible run of luck as manager, losing nine of his fifteen games. But at the time, former Blues manager Steve Bruce offered his backing, stating: “He had what, three months in charge? It seems a little harsh to me, and I believe he needs a little more time than that.”
since Rooney’s replacement, Mowbray tragically had a short season due to health problems, and Gary Rowett was unable to maintain Birmingham in the Championship since their destiny was already determined earlier this month.
Mowbray’s ability to return is still unknown, but in the event that he is unable to, it appears that a surprise appointment may take his place.
