After this season, Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart will retire, and Brendan Rodgers’ team will need to sign a replacement during the summer transfer window.
Journalist Romain Van der Pluym stated that Celtic would like to recruit Koen Casteels of VfL Wolfsburg on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter.
The 31-year-old is also being considered by Anderlecht, and Brendan Rodgers’ team will compete with them for his services.
Further information about Celtic’s interest in Casteels has been offered by Van der Pluym via LThe report states Brendan Rodgers’ side are looking at several stoppers and the Belgium international is ‘at the top of the list’ to replace Hart at Celtic Park next season.
Celtic have made contact with the Wolfsburg player over a possible transfer in the next window, and when approached by La Dernière Heure, the goalkeeper refused to confirm or deny this.
Casteels has just over a month left on his deal and wants a ‘new challenge’ next season. Celtic can offer him Champions League football, which the report says isn’t guaranteed as of now at Anderlecht.
Brendan Rodgers’ side would ‘like to hire’ the Belgian and have made contact. He wants a move but Celtic must be wary of Anderlecht as La Dernière Heure say they are a ‘serious’ option for Casteels.
