Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, will only get a brief vacation before leading the Netherlands in Euro 2024 the following month. During his short summer vacation, he traveled to Monaco to see the most glamorous race on the Formula 1 schedule.
Reigning champion and Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen, a compatriot, gave him a tour of Monte Carlo. Another player spending the weekend in Monaco, Trent Alexander-Arnold, may have also run into Van Dijk.
Van Dijk stayed close to Red Bull for the majority of the weekend, but Alexander-Arnold was present in his role as one of the numerous well-known co-owners of the failing Alpine Racing team. However, Verstappen’s qualifying did not go as planned; at a circuit where overtaking is infamously tough, the usually powerful Dutchman could only place his car sixth on the grid.
