Johnson, 27, made almost 100 appearances with the Magpies since his move from Stalybridge Celtic in July 2022.
Last season, the electrifying winger scored 14 goals and accumulated 11 assists which earned him a spot in the National League North Team of the Season.
Born in the Netherlands, Johnson began his professional career at Dundee United before moving to Cyprus in 2018 to join Othellos Athienou.
After two seasons, he returned to Scotland to Hamilton Academical and Greenock Morton, before eventually joining Northern Premier League side Stalybridge for the 2021/22 campaign.
He becomes the first summer signing for the Silkmen as they look to build on their play-off final defeat last season.
